The West of England and South Wales Women’s History Network was set up in 1993 by a group of women who wanted to encourage research and stimulate interest in women’s history and gender history in the south west of Britain, later incorporating “South Wales” into the title to reflect the increasing involvement of members from that part of the region. We held our first conference in June 1994 and have held an annual conference ever since. We have hosted two national Network Conference- in September 2000 at the University of Bath and in September 2012 at the University of Cardiff.
